Rainbow Corner

The nursery follows the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) curriculum which identifies stages of development within three primary areas and four specific areas.

Prime areas are

Person, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language development and Physical Development.

Specific areas

Expressive Art and Design, Maths Development, Literacy Development, and Understanding the World.

Observations of children participating in activities are made and recorded in a learning journal, and the child is assessed according the the age and stage reached within the EYFS framework. In this way we can ensure that each child is being encouraged to reach their full potential and we can identify areas of development which may need some help.

Background

Rainbow Corner was started by Rosemary Hubbard, sister to the present owner, as a small childcare facility run from home. The popularity of the setting forced Rosemary to look for larger premises outside the home so that she could expand and provide care for more families. The Kids Club was started in 2004 answering the call to continue caring for children after they had started school. The business was bought by Kathleen and Ian Staines in 2005 when Rosemary decided she wanted to take a less active role.

The day nursery moved to its present location in August 2017 allowing us to offer a spacious exciting environment for all ages. We also now have lots of room outside so that each group can have its own garden accessed directly from the room. There is also a fenced forest school meadow with a wooden shelter and a small area with trees enabling us to deliver woodland experience sessions as part of our forest school provision.

Rainbow Corner Day Nursery has continued to provide excellent care and education for many families in the Holton le Clay/Grimsby area for more than 40 years.

Meals

Meals

At the day nursery we employ an excellent cook who prepares lunch each day and often makes cakes or other delicacies for tea. All our vegetables are delivered by a local farm shop and all our meat comes from Browns. We provide a mid morning snack of toast (babies and toddlers) or fruit (tweenies and preschool) and milk or water, a two course home cooked lunch, everyone has a snack of fruit and milk or water mid afternoon and a two course tea. Water is always available to drink. Parents have the option of providing a packed lunch or tea if they prefer. Children with food allergies or special diets can be accommodated.

At the morning kids club breakfast is available as an option at a nominal extra cost. After school a tea consisting of sandwiches, toast or crackers, a biscuit and fruit is offered via a cafeteria system and is included in the cost. During school holidays a two course cooked lunch and the usual cafeteria tea is on offer. Children can bring a packed lunch if they prefer. Children with food allergies or special diets can be accommodated.
